Anyone has plans on design a top release plate for the top bar to the rest of the movi gimbal? We do a lot of run and run filming and it would be nice to be able to lock on the top bar to the gimbal. We have a shoot in India for a month at the end of this month and if someone can build or design me a solution before then i would be super super grateful or i'll just build one myself when i get back.
It's in the bag on the back side. I have to pull it out and screw it on which is a pain. I would like to just snap it in a go.
Great idea Jacob, we travel quite a bit too and not having to bring the donkey pelican case would be fantastic.
Just checked out BeSteady Four top handle release solutions and it perfect. Please someone from Freefly give us a top bar quick release solutions!
The MōVI M5 will have a QR top bar, it would be safe to assume the M10 will get some of those updates. http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/mōvi-m5-update-jan-15-2014.3183/#post-39890
Adolfo thanks for pointing that our. Just need it sooner then later. I have a lot of backpacking trips lined up (even on one now in India) and just finding screwing on the top bar a major major hassle.
Attached you can see my QR solution. Made with an allied drones QR vibration dampening plate and 2 15mm bars.
They were made. You can get them in most big DIY shops. They are electrical fixers a 25mm and a 15mm joined via a bolt. You'll find them in the same isle as heat shrink tubing or loose wires.
Looks good. What is the top plate that the bolt is connected too? Is that lipo battery tray? Where did you aquire it?
It's a spare battery plate from a CS8 but has since been replaced with a smaller price of acrylic. Any one that sells CS8 might have one lying around. A note: discovered with the weight of the epic and even with anti slip material between the clamps and top bar it still wants to slip. Going to have drill and bolt them together. Seems to be the best bet. Sam
Maybe you can just hang your Movi on the outside of your backpack? I have done this to mine, and it works really good. In that way you can also bring your camera and everything else in the same backpack. I strap the Movi on the outside, and cover the whole thing with a rain cover. Just make sure nobody kick or push your bag.. Takes me 5 min to get ready to shoot (if it`s pre balanced), and about 8 min to back it all down again. I also keep my Lipo`s in a isolated bag with electric hand warmers, so they stay warm on the mountain.
Hi Jacob, we build our own systems and use the Allied Drone quick release system... its pretty good and the guys send out the bits fast. It enables us to go from MoVI hanheld to Octocopter to CableCam in a couple of minutes.... also we just recently did a test and it handled the weight of 2 Epics, check it out:
