http://gallery.mikrokopter.de/main.php/v/tech/ExternerCompass_MK.jpg.html. This is supposed to help issues with magnetic interference.
Oh dear. Another exposed circuit board. Where's my conformal acrylic spray? I can also see that might be a "snag hazard," sticking up above the GPS like that. Andy.
That would certainly add to the festive air required for the holiday season, Steve. Not sure how much protection it would provide against magnetic trees though. Andy.
That remains to be seen, Ozkan. I had made a note to order up a couple -- one for my flight testbed (MK Hexa XL) and another for my CS8 - the goal to do some flight testing and see whether there is any discernible difference. Andy.
Some believe that having the lipo batteries higher than the GPS board can cause magnetic interferences. It's believed that the compass is looking at a really low magnetic field trying to separate it from the noise around it. When the lipos are in the way of the compass and the north pole every time you turn it affects the compass. The Lipo acts as a shield blocking true magnetic north. this is why DJI puts theirs way up on a stick And MK puts their lipo's below the Navi. Personally I have raised the GPS boards very high but it hasn't made a difference. But I don't know if I had it high enough.
