So I was super pumped when I recieved my notification today that my movi is ready for final payment. Then I started looking at all the accessories which raised a lot of questions to things I previously overlooked and I am having a lot of trouble finding answers. There was so little information when I pre-orded that a lot of these things I assumed it had, but can't find hard evidence for them and don't want to second guess anything. 1. Does the M10 come with the capability of wireless video transmission or do I need a third party device? 2. Does it come with video monitoring of any kind? Does the dual operator wireless transmitter have any way of seeing the footage without third party devices? If so, can it output on its own to a field monitor? 3. Is it correct that it does not come with a smallHD monitor or wireless follow focus solution? Thank you for the hasty response.
You can find information here : http://www.freeflysystems.com/products/moviM10.php So it doesn't include camera, monitor, or follow focus. You will have to buy them from another company as freefly doesn't sell follow focus or monitor (as far as I know) good luck, it will only get more and more expensive...
The M10 comes with no third party equipment. It does not come with a Small HD monitor. M10 Product discription below. http://www.freeflysystems.com/products/moviM10.php There is a complete list of included items at the bottom of the page. Cheers Mike Hagadorn
nope, video transmission is something the user has to sort out, there are a few solutions that people are using listed in the forum, such as parralinx arrow or teradek bolt systems, as well as a few über expensive long range HD systems such as the cobham Cheers
Here's my gear list to give an idea of what it costs: MōVI = 15k MK3 Wireless FF = 4k Paralinx + X2 = 2k smallHD X2 = 3.5k V-mount Power = ? Hard Case = ? TX Tray = $100 Double neck strap X 2 = $100 Various cables = ? Canon LP-E6 Battery = $60 (ea) Canon charger = $60 Looks like it will be 27-28k by the time I'm fully kitted out.
Carey's setup is fully decked out. You can pull the MoVI out out of the box put on your camera, a DP4 and get amazing footage in single operator majestic mode. cheers Mike Hagadorn
If you want to use long lenses and pull focus, you will need more than a MōVI and a DP4. If you want to shoot everything with a wide lens and in deep focus, you can get away with a minimal set up. I would never buy a MōVI if I wasn't able to use long lenses and pull focus.
Hi Joe. I get the drift that you're an Aussie. Where are you based? I'm in sunny Melbourne and am also on the waiting, waiting, waiting list. Cheers Garry
Sounds like there might be a few of these in the country pretty soon. Are you still waiting or are you lucky enough to have it already? Are you an M10 or MR buyer?
G'Day Gary, MR .... I received some advise of shipping in three weeks, two weeks ago .... so hopefully arriving soon.
You'd be counting the sleeps then! I'll look forward to seeing some footage when you finally get it. I watched you're video on your site of you terrorising you dog with the quadracopter. Good flying and nice footage, but strangely I found myself wanting to see the dog jump and get hold of it. Could have been a "funniest home video" winner. cheers Garry
Hi Garry, I'm in rainy Sydney. I was quite late for the pre-order but freefly said 1 more month and I'm good to go... So I'm waiting... I think I will use that time to see what people use with their Movi and what can work for me. Many Movi shooters in Australia, might be time to create a small community cheers
Hi Joe. I thought Sydney was being hit by hot weather and fires. Thats global warming for you. Hot one day wet the next! I only ordered in early July, so I'm also waiting patiently [sort of]. I've been told my M10 should be ready to ship by the Nov 18th. Which is obviously a full month outside the 2 months FF quoted for getting out all pre-orders. But hey theres not much we can do. I've been keeping an eye on what lucky Movi recipients have been producing as well. Its a creative minds playground with this thing. The Movi community of Oz is a good idea, maybe we could discuss in more detail at some stage?? Cheers Garry
I agree Chris. Whats your thoughts on creating an Oz community for Movi owners. I suppose theres going to be a couple of schools of thought re sharing information on use. As I'm not a videographer and am from the still photography world, I know that photographers are generally a bit precious when it comes to sharing techniques etc. But it may just be that as this is something quite special, sharing a bit may just help everyone succeed a lot quicker in their own market place. I'm all for the adage of having to make mistakes in order to grow and be better, but in my opinion, this is a serious piece of kit which deserves some respect, or why bother. Just my thoughts. Cheers Garry
