I just got the redrock cage for my C300 so i can use a microRemote, and it seems like it isn't going to fit in the MoVI! Anyone else have a C300 they are planning on or using in the M10? I'm having a hard time believing it won't fit.
any tips on fitting a taller camera?
I know a lot of you are putting Epics in the M10. How tall is it fully built?

Chris why don't you think it isn't going to fit? What is overall height of your C300 with the RedRock? Also check the M10 FAQ thread.

I can't get it in the rig and balanced without hitting the pan motor. It is 8 5/8" tall. Am I doing something wrong? I looked at the FAQ and can't seem to find anything about hight restrictions. I'm finding that even without the cage, my C300 is hitting in the back when I tilt up and hitting on top when i tilt down. Even with only a little tilt.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Chris, I measure right at a total of 10 inches of vertical space. You are dropping the tilt bars to the bottom as a starting point for balance? Maybe take some photos of your setup and post them to help us out?

    HI Chris,

The C300 is Tall! on ours we usually unclip the eyepiece to help with clearance.

Can you post a few photos?

    Thanks

Yes I dropped the tilt bars down and can balance the for/aft tilt and the roll, but I can't raise the tilt bars at all to balance the vertical tilt CG.
I'll get a pic up in a bit.

Chris is that the only cage assembly available that will let you mount the RM FF? Looks like it has added a couple of inches. Since I know nothing about the C300 what does the bottom unit do?

Doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong at this point.

There is a little mechanism on the eyepiece that will let you remove the end of it. I will try and find a picture.

The other point would be that your cage has added substantially to the top and bottom of the camera. It may be that it is just too big now to fit? I have never used this cage to I am uncertain?

I was afraid of that. I can take off the top part of the cage which i'll probably do. so will taking the eye piece of allow me to tilt the camera back to balance the vertical CG?

In other news, I have hope for the V-Mount battery mounted upright on the side of the Epic since a V-Mount battery is less than 6" tall.
