We gave our new GH3 a test flight, then shot some comparisons with our trusty old GH2. A complete review can be found on our site: http://www.yonderbluefilms.com/blog/2013/2/2/gh3-vs-gh2-video.html Please comment here with any observations or questions and I'll do my best to respond. Hope this is helpful! all the best, Ben
Nice work there Ben... great flying and shooting. We got our GH3 in Dec but haven't had a lot of opportunity to use it for anything serious yet. I did recently build a coax 8 with my old MK bits and the Hex center plate in the XY8 config that I just flew the other day for the first time. It flew very nicely and the GH3 is destined for it so hopefully I can get it out for some use soon.
Wow Benjamin you GH3 test is "Superb" i put a serious option to buy one, after seing your footage...i' m now sure what will be my next camera. Thanks again. Marc.
Ben very nice. Nicely designed shots. What frame rate did you shoot that at and did you also do post stabilization on it. Also is your pilot flying FPV? I'm really considering the GH3 but concerned about the 8bit 4.2.0. I do quite a bit of feature, commercial and TV series work so I'm concerned about grading.
There's a little bit of post-stabilization on them. I fly LOS only - no FPV. We've shot on projects with the GH3 where it was graded to match an Alexa or a Red and it worked fine, and these were broadcast projects.
We've been using the kit lens from day one. It's a 14-42mm that came with the GH2. It is by no means perfect, but it gets the job done in the air.
Thanks Ben! We've been considering the Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm or 17mm for our GH3... Might just have to try both!
