Riley at QC soldered my PDB, but looking at the main leads, does it look like a cold joint compared to the BLs? Thanks guys!
Smaller wires on the BL pads. If you are concerned get hold of Riley and see about getting it redone.
Zach, A cold joint will appear rough/lumpy at the surface. This one has a smooth, shiny surface which indicates a proper joint. Greetings, Adam
Dito Adam, mine looked dull, I would also add that one looked slightly pitted before I re-soldered it.
Not wanting to hijack a thread but I think its relevant. Is it possible to have two power inputs connected to the PDB? It would seem, if you could do that, you would not need to run two parallel batteries into one wire that is connected to the PDB. You could have two batteries connected to two separate parts of the PDB, therefore creating some redundancy. My copter is in for repair, otherwise I would look at the board. Nick
It would be tough given the size of the pad. Probably the only way that might work would be to pull insulation off of the middle of a length of wire. About the size of the pad and the solder to the pad. Not much room and the routing of the subsequent long pair of wires would be interesting. Don't know of it ever being done.
And, if you ever connect up two batteries at different voltages, the higher voltage battery could release a significant current (depending on the difference in voltage) into the lower voltage battery via the PDB traces. A great way to fry the traces on the PDB if the current was too high. Spendy! Andy.
Afraid not. My day job has raised it's ugly head for a few days, plus I've been doing my annual inspection on the C8's -- which means (for me) a complete tear-down for inspection of all the pieces and a rebuild. Andy.
Im afraid to charge them to 100%, given the storage charge being off by 15 or 20% Even the QC1200s I'm not sure if I should paracharge
I hope Riley works in a well ventilated area or wears a respirator/fume mask if he's soldering day in and out.
