I know that to achieve the lowest amount of rolling shutter you need the shutter at 1/60 of a second for 30P video. Are you guys running running Shutter priority in Video? I know a lot of you like to run Aperature prioritiy for stills or you still using AP for video and then trying to set your AP and ISO to get an approx 1/60? I would think that depending upon sun angles and changing cloud coverage that AP mode would vary the shutter speed quite a bit and your panning could be subject to rolling shutter? Second question are you guys experiencing that you need neutral density filters to use a F8 that will give you 1/60?
Don't do video in shutter priority mode. The aperture changes are not smooth and it'll drive you nuts. I use either straight manual, or manual with auto ISO. Lock the white balance, too. And yes, ND filters are a must for video.
Actually, Maxis, a GND (graduated neutral density) filter probably isn't ideal. A straight ND is better. Graduated is nice for landscape work, but in the air I'm afraid it'd be really awkward.
I have a B&W 0.9 ND and it is perfect for sunny florida, and if its cloudy you don't need one anyway.
This is the ND that I use on my GH3: http://www.amazon.com/Tiffen-58mm-N...qid=1376056791&sr=8-1&keywords=tiffen+58mm+nd
