Jason what are you running for motors, props and flight system? Are you setup to run dual batteries? Freefly 4s 9000, any of the QC batteries have been solid performers for lot of folks.
Your running close to what i have. 800mm Hex, Cobra 2820-14 motors, gem fan 12x4.5 props. The batteries are 4x 4S5500 GensAce batteries giving me around 10-12min flight time at an AUW of 12LBs.
i really like the gemfan's except the hubs were really off. Had to take chunks out of them to balance them, but now there really good. Im running 4 packs, 4x 4S5500 to give me 22000mha. Thats the flight time I'm getting flying an Epic red, flying a DSLR i should be around 15-18min.
Wow , you win for the most batt, you run 800kv motors? do they get super hot? What flight controller do you use and esc, how heavy with batt and camera, Thanks for all the info,
Everything still runs nice and cool, unless i do multiple flights back to back but nothing ever gets "hot", Im running a V1 DJI NAZA and with the Red I'm pushing 12-13LBs and a DSLR around 10-12 depending on the lens.
sorry guys i forgot to put those up. Next Level 40amp with simon-K firmware. http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_133&products_id=1142 The unfortunate thing about them is I cannot upgrade to 6S with this bird. But from what I've been putting into ecalc i doing 6S wouldn't bennifit me a whole lot anyway. This may stay a 4S bird and i build a 6S octo later.
Paul, how did you run the power distrobution , and connect 4 packs to it, that system must pull some major amps, do you like the cobra motors?
The power distro is a y-harness i mad myself, 2 deans parallel adapters connected to a single deans connector through heavy gauge wire, can't remember the exact gauge. Im going to upgrade to EC5 connectors when i get back and use the same set-up of a Y-adapter. The cobra motors are awesome, never had a single problem with them. I am looking at upgrading though to the cobra 3525-14 with a 14"prop. according to ecalc i should be able to extend by at least 5min. As for tuning the Naza i spent hours getting it fine tuned to fly well with the weight, for almost a week strait a would put a fe hours into tuning a afterwork until i got it flying as i wanted in all aspects. Hover, slow/fast flight, climbing, and descending. Getting it tuned just right to not wobble while descending to the longest time.
Me to with the tuning ,days and one crash when it stayed pitch over and wouldn't level out, the new firmware real made the naza work very well, the only downside is in gps mode with the update , it feels like driving a car with the e brake on, Thanks Paul or all your info, Do you have videos posted that you have shot?
http://www.youtube.com/user/sniperp999 The only downside im having is since i had to hard mount the gimbal right to my bird i do fight vibrations a bit. I finally found a vibration plate im going to try as part of my post deployment upgrades. I also have a facebook page of the things ive been doing, granted its been slow since I'm on deployment but November it will pick up again. https://www.facebook.com/pages/PJ-Aerials/336594846445387?ref=hl
Sorry but thats one thing i can't get you right now. My bird is a couple thousand miles away from me, Im on deployment and wont be returning until November. I'll gladly get the numbers for you then but i think you'll have them down by then
What anti vibration plate did you find? I'm looking for one for my sony nex camer and brushless gimball
