    Hi Guy's,

For an RTF customer who wants to use a RED on the CS3 mount I like to know/ask what is the way to take for a full proof setup, we don't have an Epic :( so I need some Pro input please.

The things I can think of are,

    CS3 RED Epic edition

    Radians 3x

    Futaba 8FG TX/RX (mount operator)

    8 Inch Foxtech monitor

Tray for transmitter with monitor mounting

Change 21 plastic clamps on the crucial places for aluminium ones to make the mount as stiff as possible.

    Dual bearing tilt upgrade CS3

    CS3 leg extensions

    CS3 Armor kit

    Adjustable Camera Rail

    Dual Adjustable Tilt Bar

Immersion 600mW video TX / Immersion DUO video receiver

    Clover leaf antenna's

    3x Mount/video receiver lipo 4S 3000mAh

2 power switches one for powering the Radians and one for powering the video signal and RED

    Lipo saver

    CC Bec 10A for the Radian's (6V)

HDMI 2 AV converter mini (kopterworx)

    Set HDMI cables (normal/mini/micro )
    Circular level

    Spare parts,

    1 Spare CS 360 servo

    1 Spare 130T pulley

    1 Spare 150T belt

    1 Spare 180T belt

    1 Spare servo pulley

    1 Spare landing leg

    Questions,

Are the standard Freefly 360 servo's strong enough for the Epic?

What is needed to convert the HD output from the RED to a usable SD signal for remote monitoring

All input will be much appreciated.

    Mario

You can't just kill the power to the Epic. You have to properly power down the camera or you risk loosing the footage you shot.

For the downlink I strongly recommend some type of HD downlink since every RED shoot we have done they have asked for that.

You need a special lemo connector in order to power the EPIC. The connector itself is about $65.

    Mario my answers for you.

Change 21 plastic clamps on the crucial places for aluminium ones to make the mount as stiff as possible. Really only need 4 metal clamps for the roll bar so that it doesn't rotate. The Dual Adjustable tilt bars will come with metal clamps for the tile shafts, at least if you get the latest version that adjusts both top and bottom.

    Dual bearing tilt upgrade CS3

CS3 leg extensions Haven't seen these installed.

CS3 Armor kit Nice but most folks attach the batteries to the landing gear legs.

    Adjustable Camera Rail

    Dual Adjustable Tilt Bar

CC Bec 10A for the Radian's (6V) Set this to 5 volts.

HDMI 2 AV converter mini (kopterworx)

    Set HDMI cables (normal/mini/micro )

    Additions

Longer drop tube - I think folks are using 150mm tubes
    Longer tilt arms - 200mm

    Questions,

Are the standard Freefly 360 servo's strong enough for the Epic? Yes if you carefully balance the camera and lens.

What is needed to convert the HD output from the RED to a usable SD signal for remote monitoring I think the Red has an HDMI out port which would go to the converter from Kopterworx

You haven't mentioned what copter you intend to use for carrying the rig. Does it have enough carrying capacity?

Also there are some good videos from QuadroCopter on YouTube where Jeff walks through his Red setup. That should help with some of your questions.

Thanks for the input guy's, I really appreciated it :)

The client asked for a SD downlink, but I already oppert to go for HD, but hey I am not paying his bill ;)

The copter that will be carrying this mount setup will be our Flexacopter Kratos, its especially designed for this type
    of camera setups.

    Thanks again,

    Mario

Gary, I saw that you recommended a 150mm down tube, but on the QC site there's only a 125mm and 180mm. What do you use or recommend?

Typo on my part. Standard is 125mm. So next size up is 180mm. Jeff might actually mention the length on one of the QC RED videos.

No prob Gary. Just ordered the 215mm. Was going to settle for the 200mm, but it's only a $6 difference for the extra 15mm. Thank you!

Now I'm contemplating if the longer 125mm down tube is worth the money =)

You may need it to allow clearance for letting the RED point vertically to the ground. I took at a look at the video that Jeff did. He did say he had added length to the down tube for that purpose but didn't say what the length was.

Thanks Gary. I think the stock tilt arms are 125mm. Since I'm replacing them with the 215 booms, I can use the 125 for the down tube!! Yay!
