I,m based in the UK so not sure what FAA rules apply to me in terms of an IFR rating but in the UK we have whats called a BNUC-S Licence for UAS's. If you have this then your UAS has passed both a visual and physical test and if the 'Pilot in command' has passed his theory then you become licensed by the CAA and changes to the UAS made from the time it was first tested are recorded in your operation manual logbooks. Am I on the right track ? (They refer to them as UAS - Unmanned Aerial Systems) Matt
I think he said IFR based on your photos having that cloud/misty look. I get his humor.. Even on a forum!
Gary's right. IFR is both a meteorological condition and ratings for aircraft and airman. The BNUC is also a rating for airman (and to some degree aircraft), but I suspect no small UA is allowed to operate in poor visibility -- which was the reference to the image above with the swirling smoke/clouds. Do you have access to any of the specifics for the BNUC tests (theory, competency etc.) I cannot find anything on the web. Thanks ANdy.
Argh ok, well in that case no in the UK you are not allowed to pilot a UAS with FPV....but the camerman can !
Ok i,m catching up now, (stands in the corner for 1 minute for being silly) ! In regards to the poor visibility since there was me and a smoke machine and a large room and my line of sight began from a maximum of 3 meters then i'd say I,m safe from getting hauled up in front of the CAA's bad boy club for flying recklessly. In regards to the Specifics for the BNUC info get hold of these guys http://www.eurousc.com they are the governing body for this and I,m sure that they won't mind helping you with the information. I'm not sure that I can just give you 'their' information but will ask them when I see them soon Matt
Please do ask Eurousc. Must be hard to prepare for a test that's proprietary. Do they sell study guides? Andy.
Nice, Brad. Does motor #5 have green tape around it? How was the shot taken? From another copter or from a structure? Andy.
Yes, green tape. Well it's a lightweight sticky back material, Monokote trim sheet. Same for the orange. Also have LEDs on the end of boom 5. You can see that green from a long ways. Photo was taken from about 5'6" handheld. Copter was around 2ft. The slope of the ground makes it look a little high
with the bad weather here in Switzerland, i finally had the time to take some studio-shots of my copter
Just completed an awesome music video in a huge absolutely flat pan. Perfect weather for flying. Our CS8 performed perfectly!
