I got some one picking up picking up Lipos for me on a trip to miami. and kinda been looking over the regulations for traveling with lipos. Basically they are pick up 2. 11,000 4-cell 14.8v battery packs (http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-11000-148-Pack.htm) do they have to ship this or cant they be able to travel with it in carry on. Kinda need the answer asap as they are on the plan in the am and i need to relay the info to them thanks in advance
Ok how do you calculate the storage capacity of a lipo cause im trying to follow Andy's calculation but no clue how to get all the info i need (the storage capacity)

Oh...sorry...I infer you already saw that thread -- the capacity is the number of milliamp hours. So in this case, 11,000. So: ELC = Capacity_in_mAh / 1000 * Storage_voltage / 12.5 Substitute 11000 for "Capacity_in_mAh". Hope that helps Andy.
Well i followed everything to a the site (http://forums.openpilot.org/topic/8...nce-traveling-with-lipo-batteries/#entry81321) if i followed correctly it looks like my battery is (11,000/1000)*14.8 = 162.8 wh. so only 2 on the plane as large lipos. This is making me think about how do i travel with my heli. Leaving the island isnt a problem as customs here dosnt scrutinize too much about out going items (in my experience). but if im leaving a foreign county (Germany, US) its im assuming careful planning and shipping to hotels to get my batteries to where i need to go.
Errr..what happened to the divide by 12.5? I think you left that out. ELC = Capacity_in_mAh / 1000 * Storage_voltage / 12.5 So ELC = (11000/1000)*14.8/12.5 = 13.024. Hope that helps a bit.... Andy.
