This is amazing! This guy launched a weather balloon to the edge of space (over 100,000 feet) carrying a small RC plane, then he managed to (more or less) fly the plane back down, and actually recovered it.
I've been discussing doing a balloon->space thing with one of my friends, but this takes it to a whole new level. BTW, if you want to have some fun, you can go to this site and get a reasonable prediction of your balloon's flight path. http://habhub.org/predict/
There is waiver process for these flights. Coordinated with ATC etc. Used to be involved with the local group many years ago www.eoss.org. Usually a payload launch, release of payload at apogee under parachute and recovery via beacon.
