    This is amazing! This guy launched a weather balloon to the edge of space (over 100,000 feet) carrying a small RC plane, then he managed to (more or less) fly the plane back down, and actually recovered it.

    I've been discussing doing a balloon->space thing with one of my friends, but this takes it to a whole new level.
    BTW, if you want to have some fun, you can go to this site and get a reasonable prediction of your balloon's flight path.

    There is waiver process for these flights. Coordinated with ATC etc. Used to be involved with the local group many years ago www.eoss.org. Usually a payload launch, release of payload at apogee under parachute and recovery via beacon.
