Just wanted to share a new product with the forum: 4s and 6s 9Ah flight packs available now. These batteries were made for multi-rotor aircraft with maximum energy density and reliability in mind. Using custom 9Ah lithium cells minimizes the number of connections inside the battery and helps ensure maximum reliability for mission critical applications. Most other batteries in this size range are made using smaller cells that are then connected in parallel. This can lead to reliability and balance problems long term. The battery features 10AWG wire with EC5 connectors pre-installed. The pack is rated at 25C continuous discharge with 50C burst. We are using 1 of these packs on our smaller machines and 2 packs in parallel on the larger machines. 6s Weight – 1250g 4s Weight - 845g 6s Size 225mm (L) x 70mm (W) x 37mm (H) 4S Size 225mm (L) x 70mm (W) x 24mm (H) 10AWG Wire EC5 Connector Installed
Hi, Tabb... That looks cool. May I ask, is it best-practice now to put the motor wires on the outside of the tubes? Best, Ben
Hi Ben, We are building them that way for the following reasons: 1. Shorter wires - saves weight 2. No potential for damaging wires on the end of the boom 3. Easier assembly / disassembly That said I don't think it looks quite as nice...but at the end of the day I am most interested in reliability and ease of use! If it helps me to get more then 4 hours of sleep the night before a shoot I am all for it! Tabb
Tabb: I also noted the "double decker" battery plate in the last but one image. Is that to move the batteries further away from the avionics, or to lift the C of G, or both? Andy.
Pavlos, That is a weight that they have strapped to the bottom to simulate a payload. Do I also spy 8 FF ESCs? Josh
Hi Andy, We built the double decker to allow a shelf to mount some of our test electronics on. We were also experimenting with new ways of mounting the batteries for future machines. The additional height certainly does not hurt when flying big cameras like the EPIC! Pavlos - Pricing is $190.00 for 4S and $250.00 for 6S. The gimbal is just a test gimbal we fly with 12lbs of weight. This weight will have flown around the world once or twice before the heavylifter is released! Josh - keen eye! Jason - Flight times vary with payload etc...but with a light EPIC setup we are getting ~10-12 minutes in the air with safe reserves etc. Guilherme - Thanks! Love this job and thankful for it! Tabb
Tabb if you ever need another person on your team let me know! I would love to just be able to test new stuff all the time. I may have to pick a few of the 6S batteries up for the Epic flights! Josh
OK i see every one is excited about these but i have noi dea how they are better than what i am using. Remember i am still new to this whole thing. How are these different than the 8000s i am using from quadrocopter?
Hi Jei, The QC 8000's are excellent packs also! They will serve you well. The 9000's just offer a little more capacity and a different form factor. Tabb
SEXY!! Looks like I'm in the market for new batteries for a shoot coming up...may be that you should be expecting my order!
HI Steve, I actually might go back to the drawing board and integrate a power supply and charger....it just gets HEAVY!
