Those of us using the Redvolts to power the Epic have been changing battery's every 20 or so minutes.. NOT fun! Especially with the DPs that don't want to wait. The last few jobs I have done we have been plugging the Epic into our vmount battery belt as soon as the shot is done or the director calls cut. It has worked beautifully!!! It really takes some of the stress of changing batteries at non opportune times out of the equation. Just a piece of advice that I wanted to pass on.. -- Justin
Can anyone tell me how they are connecting their LiPo batteries to either the lemo wire or in place of d-tap?
Khayyam welcome to the forums. Would you be kind enough to change your user name to your real first name and last name, please? The reasons for this (and how to do it) are explained here: http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/real-names.497/.
http://www.brushlessgimbals.com/p/8723946/superthin-90-power-connector-for-red-epic.html Or http://www.brushlessgimbals.com/Lis...P-tap&searchType=2&sortItem=7&sortDirection=0 With this (http://store.freeflysystems.com/col...y/products/freefly-battery-to-d-tap-connector) from freefly is what I do
I dont think I was clear in my question. Im trying to power my Ikan PD1 Wireless FF with something other than a brick because its a bit too much for my rig. It comes a 4-pin lemo to D-Tap but I would prefer a lemo-4pin to DC or something that has easier battery options. Even lemo 4-pin to xt60 would work so I could use some LiPo batteries. how is everyone else connecting their lipo's to their accessories?
This cable lets u go from ptap to movi battery http://store.freeflysystems.com/col...y/products/freefly-battery-to-d-tap-connector
Ok great, I didnt realize it was female d-tap. Would you mind reccommending a lipo battery that you have found to be a good balance of battery life vs weight?
Just for your focus unit?? I use the Freefly Lipo and it powers my motors all day with tons to spare..
M10.. Look, for the price/weight even if they die every 2 hours you can beat it.. Test with what you have to make sure.. I don't know what that draws.. I use RT motion so no clue on yours..
So im thinking ill get the "D-tap to Freefly Battery Cable", the M10 batteries, and the Freefly Charger. Sounds right? Do you know how long it takes to charge these batteries? Also do I have to keep checking the batteries to see when they are charged? *EDIT* Can I get this charger instead of the Freefly charger? If so, will I need a certain wire to charge the FreeFly batteries? That way I can have the option to safely charge and discharge. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Balance-Charger-Blance-Adapter/dp/B009VCBC2I/ref=sr_sp-atf_title_1_21?ie=UTF8&qid=1404246790&sr=8-21&keywords=lipo ac charger
I don't know anything about that charger. The freefly charger works, and stops when it's done but you should always monitor lipo batteries while charging.. From 30-1:30 depending how how dead the battery.. Make sure batteries don't go below 20%.. Get a battery tester
cool, already have a tester on its way . since the freefly batteries are expensive im now looking into buying an alternative (cheap) lipo elswhere with a jst connector. Would anyone know about the discharge rate of the battery and what is required by a typical follow focus motor?
Shame about the Redvolt batteries being eaten up so fast. Has anyone mounted an Epic with a V-mount battery onto an M10?
Yes, it works really well with the carbon v-mount adapter and Bebob V-75/V-95 batteries. Enough power for Epic and ff runtime app. 1.5 hours.
That is a beast of a rig! Very nice. Do you get problems with the edge of the camera hitting the back beam when the frame is moved up & down?
