Please forgive me if this has already been posted, but is there a PDF on how to connect the Pro to the controller?
Hi Joe, there's a lot of information in the Movi Pro Manual, available here: http://freeflysystems.com/support/movi-pro-support#section-product-manuals Starting around Page 71. Also, note that it depends on how you want to use the Movi Controller, if you want to incorporate the Mimic also, etc. So the manual presents a couple of options. Does that help?
I just read the manual, but is there an adapter to connect the MC-RX on the Movi PRO GCU? (Picture above) Or how should this work?
Mave welcome to the forums. Would you be kind enough to change your user name to your real first name and last name, please? The reasons for this (and how to do it) are explained here: http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/real-names.497/.
Hi Mave, the Movi Pro comes with a little cable to connect the Movi Controller Receiver. It should look like this: https://store.freeflysystems.com/co...ovi-pro-com-to-movi-controller-receiver-cable
Graham, I connected the RX to Pro and controller works the pro just fine. When I remove the RX I have no control of the Pro with the controller. Do I have to leave the RX on the pro fulltime now or did it not properly bind? Thanks
Hi Jim, the Movi Controller requires the receiver to work. It can't bind with the built-in wireless, that's just for the Mimic. Pages 71 and 72 of the Movi Pro Manual talk about this. I made a velcro 'cuff' that goes around the pan tube to hold my Receiver. The cuff doesn't stick to it, just velcro's to itself, so it can slide up and down or be removed easily.
Ok thanks Graham. Figured they would have that built into the Pro. I was just going to velcro it to top of pan tube flat but would love to see what you came up with. Freefly should hire you. You are always Johny on the spot for replies.
Hi Trevor, do you want a photo of the way I attach the receiver, or my setup in general? I took two pieces of 2" velcro, one hard and one soft, and stuck them to each other back to back. That way, it forms a cuff that can velcro around the pan tube to itself, and the soft side is on the outside so it can stick to the receiver. You can also just bongo tie the receiver on. The cuff has a tendency to slide up and down the tube and rotate around, but I find it a convenient, quick way to attach the receiver. I usually tuck the cable inside the cuff to help strain-relieve it. Here's a photo, but if you want to see other general photos of cameras and lenses on the Movi, I'm happy to post those, too.
Hi Graham I have a question I just bought the controller for a xl and see that the antenna on your unit is a lot shorter than the one I was supplied with Can you tell me where you get the short antenna Thanks Aron
That's an Alpha Wheels SBus XR receiver, not Movi Controller receiver. But, I think the new Movi Controller Receivers have a different antenna setup than the older ones did.
